R3 PCCB - Hungaroring

Warm, warmer, scorching – that’s the only way to describe this past weekend at the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux. For the third round of the championship, we travelled to a sizzling Hungary to take on the iconic Hungaroring.

Nestled just outside Budapest, the Hungaroring is a tight and twisty 4.381 km circuit that tests both driver finesse and car setup. Often compared to a street circuit due to its limited overtaking opportunities, it's known for being physically demanding — especially in heat like this.

Friday – Finding the Flow in Fiery Conditions

Free Practice 1 already showed glimpses of promise. Frank lit up the timing screens with a stunning 1:46.7, putting him right at the top overall – and as fastest rookie. Alexandra also showed solid pace with a 1:48.6, placing her 4th in the rookie classification.

But it wasn’t all smooth sailing. Track temperatures soared, causing tyres to overheat quickly. It became clear the key to success would be managing tyre degradation. By FP2, everyone had a better feel for the circuit, and the lap times tightened across the field — the heat wasn’t going anywhere, but the learning curve was steep.

Saturday – Heat of the Battle

Saturday was all about qualifying and Race 1. In a nail-biting qualifying session, Frank snatched rookie pole and secured an incredible P3 overall — his best result to date. Alexandra delivered a strong lap as well, qualifying 4th in the rookie class, with the margins razor-thin.

When lights went out for Race 1, it was war on a 40°C tarmac. The Porsches danced on the limit. Frank went head-to-head with seasoned driver Jaap van Lagen in a spectacular duel at the front. Ultimately, he just missed out on the win, crossing the line 2nd overall but grabbing 1st in the rookie category. Alexandra pushed hard and finished 4th in class — just 0.7 seconds off the podium. A gritty performance.

Sunday – Highs and Heartbreak

Race 2 began with strong starts from both drivers, but motorsport can be cruel. In Turn 1, Frank was hit hard on the rear-right by another driver’s misjudged move, ending his race early despite being on pace to challenge for the overall win. A DNF never tells the full story — he was flying.

Still, there was reason to celebrate. Alexandra kept her cool and drove a smart race, bringing the car home on the podium in the rookie class. A well-deserved reward after a challenging and hot weekend.

In Conclusion – Proud, Always

This weekend had it all: speed, strategy, setbacks, and success. We're incredibly proud of the team, our drivers, and everyone supporting this journey.

Next stop: Assen. We’ll be back — stronger, sharper, and more motivated than ever.
